In November 2025, 78-year-old actress Susan Lucci, best known for her role as Erica Kane on the long-running soap opera All My Children, has opened the doors to her recently renovated 7,000 square-foot Long Island home. Lucci, who has lived in the house for over 40 years, decided to update the 1920s abode while honoring its history and her late husband, Helmut Huber, who passed away in March 2022.
After Huber's death, Lucci grappled with the idea of selling the home and moving to a condo in the city. However, she ultimately realized how much she valued the house and the memories it held. "I see my husband everywhere -- but in a good way. I decided to redo it and make it a happy place," Lucci told Architectural Digest.
The actress worked with her longtime decorator, Betty Barbatsuly, and her daughter Lisa Richardson to transform the home. They updated the exterior with white siding and cobalt-blue shutters, and the designers' biggest change was to Lucci's iconic closet. They converted a forgotten attic into a stunning dressing room that any Hollywood A-lister would envy, allowing Lucci to store all her gowns in an orderly fashion.
Lucci, who was nominated for the Daytime Emmy Awards 21 times before winning in 1999, is thrilled with the results of the renovation. "It makes me smile when I walk up there," she said of her new closet. The actress, who also competed on Dancing with the Stars while still starring in All My Children, is now enjoying her beautifully updated home as a lasting tribute to her late husband.
