Comedian's Last Act: From Standup to Sequins

Susan Chlopicki, who passed away at age 59 from lung cancer, was celebrated as a versatile comedian, activist, and charity worker. She began her standup career in Manchester during the 1990s, quickly distinguishing herself with sharp, witty material and a memorable performance finale involving a sequined outfit and tap dancing.

Chlopicki's career spanned various platforms, including performances at Glastonbury and the Edinburgh Fringe. She also contributed to BBC Radio, writing skits for 'The In Crowd' and adapting stories from 'The Wombles' for broadcast. Her early life included vocational training and work in social support roles, such as with a community gardening group in South Wales.

In addition to her artistic endeavors, Chlopicki dedicated herself to charitable work, volunteering at Stockport Mind and serving as a funding officer for local charities. She completed a degree in environmental science from the University of Manchester in 2017. She raised her daughter, Eliah, as a solo parent and was an active member of a housing co-operative in Manchester.
