DC's plans for a Supergirl film have undergone a significant creative overhaul, with the initial concept for Sasha Calle's character being completely abandoned. Screenwriter Ana Nogueira revealed that the Supergirl movie she had written for Calle, who appeared in 'The Flash' last year, bears no resemblance to the current direction.
Under the new leadership of James Gunn and Peter Safran, Nogueira has shifted to adapt Tom King's acclaimed comic series, 'Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.' Milly Alcock is now slated to star as Kara Zor-El, anchoring the character within the newly established interconnected universe.
Nogueira emphasized that nothing from the prior version has transferred over to the new storyline. The updated narrative is set to follow Kara's journey after Krypto is poisoned, presenting her with a three-day deadline. Development has focused on aligning Kara's established power set with the new story, ensuring consistency within the universe. Calle herself reflected on her past experience in January 2026, expressing gratitude for her time as Supergirl.
