Subodh Gupta's expansive exhibition, 'Ek Mutthi Aasman (A Fistful of Sky)', is currently on display at Mumbai's Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC). The exhibition spans four floors, featuring large-scale installations and significant works from the artist's career.
Visitors ascend through the Art House, where each level is designed to evoke a different act in a theatrical play. Gupta utilizes unconventional materials, transforming everyday objects like stainless-steel utensils and ceramic shards into towering sculptures, including stupas and Doric columns. A prominent Greek theatre mask, rendered in brass, is also a highlight.
Curator Clare Lilley aimed to create a "living experience" that complements NMACC's vertical architecture. The exhibition unfolds as an intimate and profound exploration of the human condition, engaging viewers with its scale and conceptual depth.
