Ghai: Awards Not My Goal, Films Are My Padma

Filmmaker Subhash Ghai, a veteran of Indian cinema for nearly fifty years, expressed his views on prestigious honours like the Padma Awards. He stated that his primary goal has always been to entertain audiences through his films, finding his true satisfaction in their enduring appeal rather than formal recognition.

Ghai clarified that he has never actively pursued awards, focusing instead on achieving excellence and connecting with his viewers. He believes that if his films continue to be remembered and rewatched, that itself serves as the greatest award for him.

The filmmaker noted that he accepts that the government will confer the Padma Award upon him when they deem him worthy. He also mentioned that many of his awards are not displayed at home, as he feels they can boost ego and create barriers to continuous growth.
