Dog Trainer's Surprise Strictly Success Story

Graeme Hall, a 61-year-old dog trainer known for the TV series 'Dogs Behaving Badly,' has defied expectations on Strictly Come Dancing. Many viewers anticipated he would be a novelty act, but Hall and professional partner Lauren Oakley have consistently performed well, earning a spot in the upper half of the leaderboard. Hall, who was born in Selby, North Yorkshire, and now resides in Banbury, Oxfordshire, has embraced the challenge, focusing on technique and surprising audiences with his dance abilities. He initially worked as a management consultant before transitioning to dog training after being made redundant in 2007, a career that eventually led to his television appearances.

Hall's journey on Strictly is particularly remarkable given his past health challenges. In 2019, he experienced a stroke, which led to the discovery of a 13mm hole in his heart, a condition known as a patent foramen ovale. This condition can increase the risk of blood clots traveling to the brain. Despite this, he has fully recovered and is now dancing competitively. He emphasizes the importance of regular health check-ups and encourages others to be aware of potential warning signs for conditions like stroke.

Despite his age, being the oldest celebrity contestant this year, Hall finds the demanding fitness regime of Strictly beneficial, noting definition in his leg muscles. He admits to enjoying biscuits as a reward, a practice he likens to dog training. Hall has expressed his enjoyment of performing live, appreciating the audience's positive energy. He is determined to savor every moment of the competition, often experiencing 'pinch-me moments' while on the dance floor, surrounded by the show's iconic elements.
