Summary
- BBC struggles to find new Strictly hosts despite high pay.
- Top names reportedly refuse lucrative roles due to long hours.
- Alex Jones is a favoured candidate but has not accepted.

The BBC is facing a significant challenge in finding replacements for Strictly Come Dancing hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, a role that was once perceived as highly desirable. Despite the program's immense popularity and a reported salary of £400,000, numerous high-profile television personalities are reportedly declining the opportunity.
Sources indicate that the demanding and unsociable working hours, particularly on Fridays and Saturdays, are a major deterrent for potential candidates. These roles are described as all-consuming for four months of the year, requiring long days for run-throughs and dress rehearsals. Even the former hosts, Daly and Winkleman, found the job intense.
Alex Jones, the anchor of The One Show, is reportedly the favoured choice of BBC's chief content officer, Kate Phillips. However, Jones has not immediately embraced the prospect of taking on the hosting duties. Other names previously rumoured to be in contention include Bradley Walsh, Alan Carr, Holly Willoughby, and Alison Hammond, though many are said to prefer staying out of the spotlight or have lucrative alternative commitments.
Should Alex Jones accept, a vacancy would arise on The One Show, with speculation suggesting Tess Daly could be a potential successor. Daly and her husband Vernon Kay are reportedly impressing BBC executives with their co-hosting appearances. Daly and Winkleman stepped down in October after 14 years, and new presenters are expected to be announced in early summer. Winkleman is set to host her own chat show starting March 13.
