Summary
- Joseph Quinn's character Eddie killed off in Stranger Things season 4
- Duffer brothers confirm Quinn won't return for final season
- Quinn has been busy with several new movie projects since 2022

As of October 2025, the Duffer brothers have officially confirmed that Joseph Quinn, who portrayed the character of Eddie in Stranger Things season 4, will not be returning for the show's fifth and final season. In an interview last month, Matt Duffer stated, "I love that Joe Quinn is toying with people! But no, he's dead. Joe is so busy anyway, that everyone should know he's not coming back. He's shot like five movies since! When the hell has he got time to come and shoot Stranger Things? No, sadly, RIP. He's fully under that ground."
Quinn's character, a metalhead and high school outsider, met a tragic end in the previous season after sacrificing himself to distract the Demobats, allowing the rest of the group to fight the villainous Vecna. Fans had been hopeful that the character might somehow return, but the Duffer brothers have now put those rumors to rest.
Despite his untimely demise on the show, Joseph Quinn has been keeping busy with a slew of new movie projects since Stranger Things season 4 premiered in 2022. He has since starred in films like Hoard, A Quiet Place: Day One, Gladiator II, Warfare, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps, cementing his status as a rising star in the industry.
