Stranger Things Spinoff: New World in 2028

Netflix has officially announced a new live-action Stranger Things spinoff titled 'Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure,' with a planned premiere in 2028. This upcoming series will transport viewers to 1955 Marian, Nevada, delving into events that predate the original show and its stage play prequel. Kate Trefry, who has been with the series since its second season and penned 'Stranger Things: The First Shadow,' will lead as showrunner. Acclaimed director Joe Wright is set to helm the project.

The Duffer brothers expressed their excitement for the new venture, highlighting that 'Other Worlds' will build upon existing mysteries while forging its own path. They confirmed that the spinoff will answer lingering questions from the final season of the original show, particularly concerning Henry Creel's discoveries in Nevada caves and the origins of his powers. However, they emphasized that the series will establish its own distinct mythology, avoiding the misconception that it is solely about existing entities like the Mind Flayer. This strategic expansion aims to broaden the Stranger Things narrative beyond filling minor chronological gaps, as seen in previous spinoffs like the stage play and animated series, to create something fundamentally new.
