Stranger Things: Lonnie Byers Won't Return

Ross Partridge, the actor portraying Lonnie Byers, has shed light on his character's minimal role in Stranger Things. Initially, scripts planned for more in-depth adult narratives involving Lonnie, Joyce, and Hopper. However, the immense success and appeal of the young cast led the show to prioritize the children's storylines, diminishing the significance of the adult characters.

Partridge revealed that his character's history and thoughts were never fully explored, while Joyce and Hopper evolved into central figures. As a father himself, Partridge found Lonnie's decision to abandon his children inexcusable, believing it was the intention for the character to be remembered as selfish by the audience.

With Stranger Things heading into its final season, focusing on Will Byers' complex relationship with the Upside Down and Vecna, the question of Lonnie's potential return arises. However, Partridge has suggested that Lonnie is unlikely to reappear, as the Byers family has moved forward without him.
