Just two weeks before the highly anticipated premiere of Stranger Things 5, Netflix has given fans a special treat. The streaming giant has released the first five minutes of the final season's opening episode, providing a glimpse into the show's past and a tantalizing preview of what's to come.
The flashback sequence takes viewers back to November 1983, when a 12-year-old Will Byers was still trapped in the Upside Down after being abducted by the Demogorgon. The scene revisits the iconic moment from Season 1 when Will was hiding in Castle Byers, singing "Should I Stay or Should I Go" to comfort himself. However, his respite is short-lived, as the Demogorgon soon discovers his hiding spot and attacks.
What follows is a harrowing sequence of Will desperately trying to evade the creature, firing his rifle and climbing trees in a futile attempt to escape. Just when it seems he might make it, Will loses his grip and falls, crashing to the ground. The Demogorgon then drags him to the Upside Down version of Hawkins Library, where the sinister Vecna is waiting.
In a chilling moment, Vecna uses his powers to force a tentacle down Will's throat, injecting him with some unknown substance. "You and I, we are going to do such beautiful things together, William," Vecna says, caressing the terrified boy's face. This shocking revelation sets the stage for what promises to be a thrilling and emotional final season of Stranger Things.
