The "Star Wars" saga offers multiple viewing paths, with options to watch films chronologically or in release order. Chronological viewing begins with "The Phantom Menace" and incorporates spinoffs, while release order starts with the original 1977 film. For first-time viewers, release order is recommended to appreciate the saga's unfolding narrative and avoid potential pacing issues with the prequel trilogy.
The "Star Wars" television landscape also presents diverse viewing experiences. Animated series like "The Clone Wars" predate live-action shows such as "The Mandalorian," which is set after "Return of the Jedi." Newer series like "The Acolyte" are set furthest in the past, over 100 years before "The Phantom Menace."
Future "Star Wars" content includes "The Mandalorian & Grogu," scheduled for a May 22, 2026 release, followed by "Star Wars: Starfighter" on May 28, 2027. Additionally, a new Rey-centric film and other projects from directors like Dave Filoni and James Mangold are in various stages of development, expanding the "Star Wars" universe.
