Star Wars: Detours, an animated comedy series executive-produced by George Lucas, is slated for its premiere at the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Los Angeles this September. The series, which was initially announced in 2012, experienced delays following Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm that same year.
Co-creator Seth Green announced the upcoming showcase at the "Inside the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art" panel during San Diego Comic-Con 2026. He described the show, intended to be "The Simpsons in the Star Wars universe," as one of his greatest creative experiences.
Originally revealed at Star Wars Celebration in 2012, "Detours" remained in development limbo for over a decade. The production completed 39 episodes and had scripts for an additional 62 ready. Green previously expressed confidence in the show's timeless appeal, anticipating its eventual release.
The Lucas Museum itself, a passion project of George Lucas announced in 2013, is scheduled to open its doors on September 22, 2026. The museum's inaugural film program will feature diverse works in its theaters.
