James Taylor, who served as Kylo Ren's body double for all three Star Wars sequel films, recounted a memorable prank during the filming of Han Solo's death scene. While rehearsing the pivotal moment with Harrison Ford in "The Force Awakens," Taylor's shoelaces were tied together by Adam Driver as a joke.
Taylor, 47, shared that Ford would often arrive on his bicycle for shoots while Driver was still in makeup. During one rehearsal, as Ford caressed Taylor's cheek, the crew began laughing. Taylor discovered his boots' laces had been tied together, leading him to jump off the set comically. He found the experience quite funny, noting his concentration was solely on the scene.
Reflecting on his experiences, Taylor expressed that working with the cast and crew felt like being part of a "family." He cherished the camaraderie built over the three films, concluding with "The Rise of Skywalker" in 2019. Growing up fascinated by Star Wars, meeting his heroes like Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford was a dream come true.
Beyond his Star Wars role, Taylor has also voiced Kylo Ren for the Galaxy's Edge Walt Disney ride. His career began in modeling, leading to acting roles in television shows such as "EastEnders" and "Holby City." He also mentioned standing in for Channing Tatum on "Jupiter Ascending." Taylor remains active in films, attends Comic Cons, and co-founded the HOME Hub wellbeing centre.
