Stan Lee AI Voice Lives On

Eight years after his death on November 12, 2018, Stan Lee's legacy is experiencing an unprecedented expansion in 2026. In May, an agreement was announced to digitally recreate his voice and likeness using artificial intelligence, enabling his AI-generated voice to narrate books, a move described as continuing his connection with fans.

A new teen-focused live-action anthology series, titled 'The Vault,' was announced in April, which will be built upon his numerous unpublished ideas as a tribute. This week, a limited-edition wine inspired by his legacy was released, featuring his famous rallying cry, "Excelsior!" on the label.

Lee, who was born Stanley Martin Lieber in Manhattan, New York City, on December 28, 1922, began his career at Marvel Comics in 1939. He co-created iconic characters like the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, and the X-Men, revolutionizing superhero storytelling with complex characters and narratives.

During a 2010 interview, Lee reflected on his career, stating, "entertainment is one of the most important things in people's lives. Without it, they might go off the deep end." He emphasized that creating entertainment that helps people escape or feel seen is a valuable contribution, addressing the historical undervaluation of creative work compared to fields like medicine or engineering.

Lee's impactful career earned him numerous accolades, including the National Medal of Arts in 2008 and induction into multiple prestigious halls of fame. He continued to make beloved cameo appearances in Marvel films until his final years, solidifying his status as a cherished cultural figure.
