A new folk arts training school, responding to a request by Padma Shri awardee Velmurugan, will be established in Madurai. Additionally, a master's degree in art preservation is slated to commence in the 2026-2027 academic year, enriching the academic offerings.
The CM also announced a substantial increase in the university's annual grant, from ₹3 crore to ₹5 crore, to bolster its teaching and administrative capabilities. Furthermore, the state's Naan Mudhalvan skill training program will be extended to music and fine arts students, incorporating modules on English communication and digital skills. Stalin urged graduates to embrace technology, including AI, as supportive tools rather than replacements for human creativity.
