SRK's Rs 42 Lakh Gift Fuels Marathi Blockbuster

The Marathi film 'Deool Band 2' has achieved a significant milestone, crossing Rs 100 crore at the worldwide box office. This achievement was greatly facilitated by Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan, who previously waived a Rs 42 lakh bill for the film's Digital Cinema Package (DCP). Director Pravin Tarde highlighted this act of generosity, stating that Khan's support was crucial for the film's release.

Tarde has responded to criticism questioning Khan's support for a film with religious themes. He asserted that kindness should not be viewed through a religious lens, emphasizing Khan's professional connection within the film industry. Tarde recalled approaching Khan's team for a discount due to budget constraints, leading to Khan's immediate instruction to provide the DCP.

The filmmaker further defended his decision to publicly thank Khan, stating it does not contradict his ideological beliefs. He stressed that recognizing good deeds is paramount, regardless of the benefactor's religion. Tarde noted that the film's success stemmed from honest effort, not the backing of influential figures, and that acknowledging help is important.

'Deool Band 2' has now become the third highest-grossing Marathi film of all time. It follows in the footsteps of 'Raja Shivaji' and 'Sairat', cementing its place in Marathi cinema history.
