Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has opened up about the failure of his 2011 superhero film 'Ra.One', which he had hoped would set a new benchmark for visual effects and open doors for bigger studios in India. In a recent fan interaction, SRK shared that he worked on the Anubhav Sinha-directed movie with immense passion and high expectations, but it fell short of his ambitious goals.
The actor emphasized that 'Ra.One' did perform well, but not to the extent he had anticipated. He credited Sinha for putting his heart and soul into the project, acknowledging that certain technological advancements, such as the rise of PlayStation, video games, and iPads, were not as prevalent at the time, which may have contributed to the film's limited acceptance.
Despite the disappointment, SRK expressed his willingness to return to the 'Ra.One' universe if Anubhav Sinha decides to revisit it. The actor also recalled the challenges of wearing the superhero costume, which required the assistance of two women and one man to put on and take off, and even led him to lose 8 kilograms.
As Shah Rukh Khan looks ahead, he is gearing up for his upcoming film 'King', co-starring his daughter Suhana Khan, along with frequent collaborators Rani Mukerji and Deepika Padukone. The film, directed by Siddharth Anand, is scheduled for release in 2026.
