An exhibition titled ASHTPRAVAH, featuring the works of eight emerging Sri Lankan artists, commenced its display at the Kala Srot Art Gallery. The exhibition presents a diverse collection of over 30 artworks, utilizing mediums such as painting, sculpture, and mixed media.
Running until March 3, the show is accessible daily between 2 pm and 8 pm. Gallery director Mansi Didwania curated the exhibition with the goal of establishing meaningful cultural connections through artistic expression. She highlighted that each artist offers a distinct viewpoint, deeply connected to Sri Lankan heritage while engaging with contemporary global art practices.
The featured artists delve into themes including personal identity, recollections, cultural customs, and modern existence. Their creations reflect both individual experiences and wider societal conditions. For instance, artist Rambukkanage Avinda draws inspiration from his childhood observations of Sri Lanka's social dynamics, capturing everyday struggles and societal divisions.
