In a recent development, Independent Film Company has pre-bought the North American rights to the Hong Kong-set comedy 'Peaches'. The film, which is currently in production, will star Sophie Thatcher and Havana Rose Liu as the lead characters.
'Peaches' follows the story of Nora (Thatcher) and Bing Bing (Liu), two spoiled best friends who scam sugar daddies for a living. However, their lavish lifestyle takes an unexpected turn when they discover that a coveted Hermès Birkin bag they were gifted is actually a fake. As their "boyfriends" and their crimes quickly catch up with them, the pair is sent on a wild romp through the streets of Hong Kong.
The film is inspired by Vera Chitylova's 1966 classic 'Daisies'. It is directed by Jenny Suen, who is making her English-language debut after her 2017 drama 'The White Girl'. The project is produced by Coco Francini and executive-produced by Cate Blanchett and Andrew Upton of Dirty Films.
