Filipino Grandma from No Way Home Passes Away

Actress Mary Rivera, remembered for her role as Ned Leeds' grandmother in "Spider-Man: No Way Home," passed away on April 15th in Honolulu. Her death followed a severe stroke, after which doctors informed her family of the critical nature of her condition. Facing a grim prognosis, even if she recovered from a coma, the family made the heart-wrenching choice to withdraw life support.

Rivera, who was later cremated, lived a life she and her family considered good and fulfilling. She took immense pride in her part in the 2021 Marvel film, an opportunity her family had encouraged her to audition for. One of the film's memorable moments features her speaking in Tagalog to Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man, with Ned translating.
