Worcester is set to host Speak Easy Story Night, a new monthly showcase for personal storytelling, beginning Thursday, March 12. The event will take place at Ralph's Rock Diner.
Radio hosts Mike Hsu and author Jeff Belanger are collaborating to present this unique platform. Their aim is to cultivate a space for authentic narratives, distinct from comedy shows, where attendees can share deeply personal experiences. The initial theme for storytellers is 'scared.'
Selected storytellers will have up to five minutes to share true accounts from their lives, delivered without notes. These live performances will be recorded with the intention of creating a podcast to further promote local storytellers and upcoming events. Organizers hope to foster a sense of connection and shared experience among participants and the audience.
The inaugural event is for ages 21+ and tickets are $10 cash at the door. Ralph's Rock Diner, known for its historic atmosphere, was chosen as a venue that encourages authenticity and comfort for attendees.
