A significant tribute event honoring the legendary singer S. P. Balasubrahmanyam recently took place in Kerala. On March 31, a 10-foot statue of the beloved artist was unveiled at the V. T. Bhattathiripad Cultural Complex in Palakkad. The inauguration was performed by Oscar-winning music composer M. M. Keeravani, representing the Malayalam playback singers' association 'Samam'.
The ceremony was attended by numerous prominent singers and SPB's family, including his son S. P. Charan. Following the unveiling, a large-scale musical performance titled "Sangeetha Megham" was held. This tribute saw over 50 singers perform SPB's memorable songs, marking it as a major musical homage in Kerala.
Although unable to attend in person due to prior commitments, superstars Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan shared heartfelt video messages. Rajinikanth recalled SPB's generosity and talent, sharing an anecdote about his spontaneous hour-and-a-half performance on a flight. Kamal Haasan expressed his deep affection for SPB, referring to him as 'Annaya', and acknowledged the tribute as a testament to the singer's immense popularity and the public's enduring love.
