The film, based on a real event, revisits a tragic incident on December 30, 2000, when a group of friends attempted to climb the Balandrau mountain in the Catalan Pyrenees. They were caught in an unforeseen blizzard, which became the worst storm recorded in the region. The movie chronicles the ordeal of the stranded mountaineers and the efforts of the rescue teams.
'Balandrau' stars Álvaro Cervantes, Bruna Cusí, and Marc Martínez. It marks the feature-length directorial debut for Catalan filmmaker Fernando Trullols. The film's successful theatrical release in Spain, where it drew over 200,000 admissions, has served as a strong credential for its continued international promotion.
