- The film won five Goya Awards, including best film and director.
- It was the third highest-grossing Spanish release of 2025.

Alauda Ruíz de Azúa's acclaimed film "Sundays" has secured a significant U.S. distribution deal with Outsider Pictures. This milestone follows the film's remarkable success at the 40th Spanish Academy Goya Awards, where it dominated by winning five awards, including Best Film and Best Director.
The drama also achieved considerable commercial success in Spain, grossing €4.9 million ($5.8 million) and ranking as the third biggest Spanish release of 2025. "Sundays" had already been sold to numerous international markets before this U.S. acquisition. Outsider Pictures has committed to a minimum theatrical release in at least 10 major U.S. markets this fall.
The film delves into the complex family dynamics surrounding Ainara, a young student contemplating a life as a cloistered nun, a decision met with varying degrees of self-interest and egocentrism from her parents. Director Ruíz de Azúa masterfully portrays Ainara's religious vocation with psychological credibility, finding more understanding from a local Prioress than from her own family. "Sundays" is also recognized as one of the Top 10 Spanish films ever made by Film Affinity España. Ruíz de Azúa also achieved a significant double win, securing the top prize at Series Mania with "Querer" in the same year as her Goya triumphs.
