The European Film Market in Berlin is spotlighting Spain's burgeoning film industry with a showcase of diverse projects. Film Factory is handling international sales for Lucía Puenzo's "Pepita the Gunslinger," marking a significant acquisition. A Spanish co-production, "There's Someone in the Garden," produced by Kowalski Films, is set to begin shooting in November and stars Úrsula Corberó in a genre-bending horror-thriller.
Vértigo Films is presenting "Broken Waters," a Spain-Portugal co-production directed by Patxi Isasti. This crime thriller, set in coastal Galicia, centers on a grandmother seeking revenge. Link-Up Productions is pitching "The Beach of Paris," which interweaves fictional narratives with historical figures like Dalí and Ava Gardner across four distinct eras.
Further projects include Japónica Films' "La Madriguera," a horror film exploring generational trauma, slated for a 2027 production. Jaibo Films is presenting "Disposable," an adult animated social-pressure thriller co-produced with Colombia, focusing on a Bogotá uprising. Spain's Ministry of Culture and ICEX are supporting these diverse cinematic endeavors.
