Last year, the show's release was affected by Paramount Global's merger discussions and a significant $1.5 billion deal that guarantees 50 new episodes for Paramount+ over the next five years. Creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone even acknowledged their own procrastination contributed to one episode's delay, assuring fans it wasn't due to censorship.

For at least the first six episodes of Season 29, viewers can anticipate a regular schedule leading up to Thanksgiving. This new era of consistency provides welcome clarity after a chaotic production period in 2025, which saw delays and uncertainty about episode premieres.

The production agreement ensures a steady stream of content, with expectations for additional episodes to air every other week through January 2027, fulfilling the five-year production commitment.
