South Park Creators Reveal New Season, Broadway Plans

Trey Parker and Matt Stone have announced that the highly anticipated 29th season of "South Park" is set to premiere on September 16. This comes after a successful recent run that revitalized the show with sharp satire. The creators also shared exciting news about their musical, "The Book of Mormon," which is celebrating its 15th anniversary. Parker and Stone themselves are slated to make appearances on Broadway during "Magical Mormon Mystery Week," from June 9-14, joining original cast members like Josh Gad and Andrew Rannells.

Adding to their busy schedules, Parker and Stone continue their ambitious restoration of Casa Bonita, the iconic Mexican restaurant in Lakewood, Colorado. They purchased the bankrupt venue in 2021 and have invested $40 million into its renovation. A documentary chronicling this effort, "¡Casa Bonita Mi Amor!," was released in 2024. The duo aims to recapture the nostalgic charm of the restaurant they frequented as children, which featured puppet and magic shows.

During a television appearance, Parker and Stone discussed their creative process, including the use of advanced technology like AI deepfakes for a controversial depiction of Donald Trump's anatomy on "South Park." They humorously detailed the sophisticated methods used for a prosthetic penis, which became a notable prop during their segment. The inspiration for Vice President J.D. Vance's character was also revealed, drawing a parallel to Tattoo from the 1970s show "Fantasy Island."
