South Park Renamed 'South America'!

Creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have renamed the Emmy-winning animated series "South Park" to "SOUTH AMERICA" in a satirical jab at President Donald Trump. This decision, made a week before the 29th season premiere, parodies Trump's actions, such as declaring "Lake America" for Lake Ontario and the "Gulf of America" for the Gulf of Mexico.

The satirists are also targeting tech companies Apple and Google, along with their parent company Paramount, for following Trump's lead in renaming geographical features on their mapping services. This move by Parker and Stone reflects a pattern of sharp commentary, as they previously depicted Trump in controversial ways on the show and famously satirized Canada in "South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut." The show's parent company, Paramount, is facing scrutiny for its merger with Skydance, while also recently renewing its deal with Parker and Stone. Trump's other renaming suggestions, like "New America" for New Mexico, and controversies surrounding the Kennedy Center, further highlight the context for this artistic protest.
