Casting for Vikramaditya Motwane's biopic on former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly is actively underway, with multiple key roles yet to be confirmed. The film is scheduled to commence shooting in Kolkata on March 16.
Actors Boman Irani and Aparajita Adhya are reportedly being considered for the roles of Ganguly's father and mother, respectively. Discussions for the role of Snehasish Ganguly, Sourav's elder brother, are ongoing.
Gajraj Rao is being considered to portray former BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya, following his performance in 'Maidaan'. Several Bengali actors were considered but faced hurdles due to look tests and availability.
Rajkummar Rao is confirmed to play Sourav Ganguly and will undergo immersive preparation, including visits to Eden Gardens and Ganguly's childhood neighborhood. The biopic's production involves a 40-day schedule across Kolkata, London, and Mumbai.
