Malayalam actor Soubin Shahir's expansive 6,300-square-foot apartment in Kochi is a unique urban retreat, deeply integrated with nature through extensive greenery.
Shahir's lifelong affection for plants was nurtured during his childhood when watering the garden was one of his assigned chores. This early connection fostered a deep attachment to nature, influencing his vision for a home filled with abundant plant life.
The apartment's design welcomes visitors with a green entrance, featuring a fallen tree trunk seating and broken-stone flooring. Varieties like variegated gigantium and pandanus surround the entrance, bathed in natural light filtering through the foliage.
Landscaped balconies connect interior rooms to the outdoors, allowing greenery to be visible from various living spaces. The design incorporates trees, bamboos, ferns, figs, and palms, creating a seamless blend between indoor and outdoor environments.
Beyond decoration, Shahir actively participates in maintaining his home's lushness. When he is present, he personally tends to the plants, ensuring their health and arrangement, reflecting his hands-on commitment to his green sanctuary. Soubin Shahir's latest theatrical release, 'Khalifa: The Ruler', arrived in cinemas on August 20, 2026, in which he makes a cameo appearance.
