Filming is underway for the new Tomb Raider series, with Sophie Turner embodying the iconic Lara Croft. Recently, Turner was captured battling rain during intense knife fight sequences in a wooded area of Surrey. The night shoot transformed the location into a muddy battleground, with the actress making a dramatic escape on a motorbike alongside co-star Martin Bobb-Semple, who plays Zip.
Turner's preparation for the role began in February 2025 and has spanned nearly a year of rigorous training, including eight hours a day, five days a week. This demanding regimen has resulted in a recurring back problem for the actress, who noted the difficulty of building muscle after never having worked out extensively before. She expressed feeling well-prepped and fortunate for her relationship with Amazon.
The series, created and written by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, is set to be one of Prime Video's most ambitious launches. Turner, previously known for her role in Game of Thrones, highlighted that her past experience did not prepare her for the action-oriented nature of Tomb Raider, emphasizing the satisfaction of learning to fight back. She joins a cast that includes Sigourney Weaver and Jason Isaacs, following in the footsteps of previous Lara Crofts Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander.
