Sony Pictures International Productions' Spanish division is venturing into short-form fiction with "Los Hilos del Miedo." This eight-part psychological suspense series is set to premiere on Prime Video in Spain. Each episode will be approximately five minutes long, adapting viral stories originally published by Spanish writer Salvador Gutiérrez Solís on X.
The production leverages the success of a mobile-first pilot titled "El Garaje," which reportedly garnered over 28.4 million views on TikTok. The series aims to capture the speed and immediacy of social media content within a premium audiovisual format, inspired by Gutiérrez Solís's suspenseful narratives.
This initiative also strengthens Sony Pictures International Productions' collaboration with TAI Arts University School in Madrid. The project integrates emerging international creators from the school into its technical and artistic production, serving as both a commercial venture and a talent development program. Some TAI participants will gain their first professional industry experience through this series.
Iván Losada, managing director of Sony Pictures Entertainment, Spain, emphasized the project's innovation in short-form entertainment, stating that cinematic tension is not limited by traditional running times. Writer Salvador Gutiérrez Solís expressed his excitement about his social media stories reaching a global platform like Prime Video, highlighting the potential for a new generation of audiovisual creators.
