Sony Pictures has secured the rights to "71 Minutes," a new spec script penned by Ian Shorr. The project is described as a real-time thriller, presenting a man who must evade his pursuers within a strict 71-minute timeframe before the sun rises.
This sale marks a significant moment for Shorr, who is recognized for his science fiction writing. He previously wrote the Antoine Fuqua-directed feature "Infinite." Notably, another script by Shorr is currently in production with Warner Bros., starring Keanu Reeves.
The "71 Minutes" script generated substantial interest, with more than twenty production companies and several studios vying for it. Jason Reitman is set to produce the feature through his Ghost Corp banner.
