11 Oct
Summary
- Initial music team for Soldier proved an incorrect combination.
- A song featuring Bobby Deol and Preity Zinta was scrapped.
- The scrapped song was replaced with 'Tera Rang Balle Balle'.
Ramesh Taurani unveiled behind-the-scenes details regarding the music of the 1998 film Soldier. He explained that securing Bobby Deol for the film involved convincing Sunny Deol due to Bobby's exclusive contracts.
During the initial schedule, the music composition faced challenges. The combination of Nadeem-Shravan and lyricist Javed Akhtar proved problematic, as Akhtar insisted on writing full lyrics rather than collaborating on pre-written 'mukhdas'.
Further complications arose when Nadeem had to leave India in 1997. The music team was then changed to Anu Malik, with Sameer brought in as the lyricist. A song featuring Bobby Deol and Preity Zinta was filmed but later deemed unsuitable.
This scrapped song was ultimately replaced by 'Tera Rang Balle Balle', a decision that finalized Sameer's contribution to all the songs for Soldier. The entire process highlighted significant shifts in the film's musical direction.
