Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh is celebrating his 63rd year with a distinctive nine-week event titled "A Man Under the Influence: 63 Days of Steven's Selects." This collaboration with Singani 63 and Nitehawk Cinema is scheduled from February 18 through April 15, 2026. The series will present nine films chosen by Soderbergh that have been personally and culturally influential to him, with one film representing each decade.
The curated selections span a variety of genres, including comedies like "Trouble in Paradise," thrillers such as "Notorious," and blockbusters like "Jaws." Other featured films include "The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T," "The Servant," "Do the Right Thing," "Fargo," "Lost in Translation," and "Phantom Thread." This lineup showcases directors like Spike Lee, Paul Thomas Anderson, Ernst Lubitsch, Joel and Ethan Coen, Steven Spielberg, and Alfred Hitchcock.
Every Wednesday evening, screenings will alternate between Nitehawk Prospect Park and Nitehawk Williamsburg. Each event will begin with a "Steven Soderbergh trailer" and will be followed by a 63-minute Singani 63 Happy Hour. A unique "feature cocktail," inspired by that night's film, will be offered, with creations provided by different top New York City bar partners. Soderbergh, who launched Singani 63 in 2018 as the sole exporter of the Bolivian spirit, famously enjoys his films with a glass of singani.
