Directed by debutant Varsha Bharath and produced by veteran filmmaker Vetri Maaran, 'Bad Girl' has been the subject of much discussion due to its bold narrative and controversial themes. Despite facing some initial criticism from certain audience members, the film went on to gain international recognition by winning the prestigious NETPAC Award at its premiere in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
Dhulipala, in her personal and emotive Instagram post, expressed how the film had made her "smirk and tear up", as she felt "seen and beheld" by its powerful storytelling. The actor enthusiastically recommended the film, especially to young women, stating that "this one's for us y'all."
In a separate statement, producer Vetri Maaran revealed that 'Bad Girl' would be the last production venture for his company, citing the financial and logistical pressures behind the decision to close down the production house.
