Sober Bar Teams Up With Major Festival for Social Change
27 May
Summary
- A sober bar is partnering with a major music festival.
- Over a quarter of young adults aged 16-25 are now teetotal.
- The festival will offer 'moodtails' designed to enhance feelings.

Forwards Festival is set to feature a unique collaboration with Bristol's Arc, a sober bar known for its non-alcoholic 'moodtails.' This partnership aims to foster social change by offering a distinct sober experience to festival-goers. The initiative aligns with recent statistics indicating a growing trend of reduced alcohol consumption among younger demographics.
Data shows that 26% of individuals aged 16 to 25 are now teetotal, making them the most likely age group to abstain from alcohol. Arc's manager highlights that their 'moodtails' are crafted with ingredients like cordyceps and lion's mane, intended to evoke specific moods such as relaxation or upliftment, contrasting with the perceived downsides of alcohol.
Festival organizer Ben Price views this as a logical step, noting the success of alcohol-free options at other events. He emphasized that this partnership broadens the beverage offerings, making the festival more inclusive for diverse audiences. Forwards Festival will take place on Clifton Downs during the August bank holiday weekend, from the 29th to the 30th, expecting a crowd of 60,000.
