As Disney continues to release live-action remakes of its animated classics, Saturday Night Live has taken a comedic spin on one of the most beloved Disney stories. In a recent sketch titled 'Beauty & Mr. Beast', the show parodied the 1991 Disney film 'Beauty and the Beast', with a twist featuring popular YouTube personality Jimmy Donaldson, better known as Mr. Beast.
The sketch portrayed Mr. Beast as the Beast character, who is holding Belle's father captive in a dungeon for a chance to win over $300,000. In the SNL version, Mr. Beast says, "I'm keeping her dad trapped in a dungeon for 30 days for a chance to win over $300,000. For every pound he loses, I'll give a Tesla to a random stranger." The sketch also mocked Mr. Beast's controversial tactics on his own reality competition series, which has been renewed for two more seasons.
Donaldson, the real-life Mr. Beast, reacted positively to the sketch, saying, "I didn't know they were gonna talk about me but the second it aired my phone blew up haha. Thought it was funny." The SNL parody highlights the growing influence of YouTube stars and their ability to cross over into mainstream media, as Disney continues to adapt its classic stories for modern audiences.
