SNL Newcomers Welcomed with Chaotic Choreography and Hazing Ritual
14 Nov
Summary
- Olivia Dean and Glen Powell make SNL debuts
- Bowen Yang and Marcello Hernandez initiate "hazing" with dancing and hide-and-seek
- Olivia Dean embraces the chaos, while Glen Powell considers pulling out a gun

This Saturday, November 11th, 2025, Saturday Night Live is set to welcome a pair of first-time performers to the iconic stage. Musical guest Olivia Dean and host Glen Powell are both making their SNL debuts, but they're not getting an easy initiation from the show's veteran cast members.
In the pre-show promos, Bowen Yang and Marcello Hernandez are seen putting the newcomers through a "hazing" ritual of sorts. The two cast members glare at Dean and Powell, referring to them as "fresh fish" and warning them about how they're treated "round these parts." The hazing then takes the form of a chaotic dance routine, which Olivia Dean surprisingly seems to enjoy. Glen Powell, on the other hand, jokes that he was about to pull out his gun.
Elsewhere in the promos, Hernandez challenges the newcomers to a fast-paced game of hide-and-seek, while Yang and Hernandez engage in a Freaky Friday-style body swap. It's clear the SNL veterans are not making things easy for their first-time counterparts.
Despite the unconventional welcome, both Olivia Dean and Glen Powell are poised for a big night. Dean is capping off a breakout year, with her sophomore album The Art of Loving debuting in the top 10 on the Billboard 200 and her first four entries on the Hot 100 chart. Meanwhile, Powell is promoting his new movie The Running Man, which hits theaters this Friday, as well as the first season of his Hulu series Chad Powers, which premiered in September.
