Summary
- Pete Davidson purchased a decommissioned Staten Island ferry in 2022
- The ferry is reportedly a "money-losing fiasco" according to a New York Times article
- Davidson had to perform in Saudi Arabia's Riyadh Comedy Festival to recoup ferry losses

In a surprising move, former "Saturday Night Live" cast member Pete Davidson has crashed this week's edition of the show's Weekend Update segment to address his controversial investment in a decommissioned Staten Island ferry.
According to Davidson, the ferry purchase, which he and co-host Colin Jost made in 2022, has turned into a "money-losing fiasco." The New York Times recently reported on the failed venture, calling it a financial disaster.
To try and offset the massive losses, Davidson revealed that he had to perform at the Riyadh Comedy Festival in Saudi Arabia. "In case you're wondering why I had to do a show in Saudi Arabia... we're losing millions on this ferry," he joked during the segment.

Despite the setbacks, Davidson remains committed to the project, stating that he can't afford to spend $5 on a paywall to read the critical New York Times article when he has a child on the way. The future of the decommissioned ferry remains uncertain, but Davidson's candid appearance on Weekend Update has certainly added an unexpected twist to this ongoing saga.
