Smerz's "Big City Life" Remixed by Eclectic Artists

In November 2025, Norwegian duo Smerz released a remix album titled "Big city life EDITS" that features reinterpretations of their latest record by a host of eclectic acts. The 14 tracks on the album showcase the endless versatility of Smerz's songwriting, with the duo's distinctive vocals woven into a tapestry of diverse sounds.

Standout remixes include Molina's discomfitingly sexy take on "Roll the dice," which transforms the original's dance-inflected track into a hypnotic European dub number. Meanwhile, the arty electroclash duo New York turn "Imagine this" into a high-glamour, high-kitsch delight reminiscent of the After Dark 2 compilation. The Copenhagen singer Fine also offers a stripped-back, jazz-folk version of "A thousand lies" that evokes the spirit of Lana Del Rey.

Throughout the album, Smerz's voices remain the constant, lending an emotive core to the radical reinterpretations. "Big city life EDITS" proves that Catharina Stoltenberg and Henriette Motzfeldt's songs have a strong foundation that can be reimagined in countless compelling ways.
