The production design of "Slow Horses" offers a unique glimpse into the world of disgraced MI5 agents. In Season 5, the series' signature dilapidated Slough House is presented in a state of mid-renovation. This unfinished makeover, with exposed wires and uncompleted walls, visually reinforces the constant threat of the office's closure.
Choi Ho Man, the production designer, explained that the ongoing construction reflects the show's narrative tension. The team aimed to add another layer to the threat of the agents' precarious employment by depicting a renovation that never seems to finish.
Beyond Slough House, the show features other meticulously crafted sets. For a pivotal scene, a high-end restaurant was built from scratch, featuring a dazzling glass elevator and a breathtaking panoramic view of the London skyline created with stitched-together cityscapes.
Roddy Ho's apartment is another notable set, designed to mirror his life online. It features an abundance of colorful LED lights, dark walls, and a waterbed, alongside framed video game posters, one of which held a personal connection for the actor voicing the game.
