22 Oct
Summary
- Season 6 ended with River poisoned by Novichok nerve agent.
- Season 7 adapts Mick Herron's 'Bad Actors' novel.
- New season features a mole hunt within the British Government.
The critically acclaimed spy drama 'Slow Horses' is confirmed for a seventh season, much to the relief of fans still reeling from the dramatic conclusion of season 6. The previous season, "Judgment Day," ended with a shocking cliffhanger, as protagonist River Cartwright collapsed after apparent Novichok nerve agent poisoning.
The seventh season is set to adapt Mick Herron's eighth novel from the 'Slough House' series, titled "Bad Actors." The plot will see Jackson Lamb and his team of disgraced intelligence agents tasked with identifying and neutralizing a mole operating at the highest levels of the British Government. This mole threatens to destabilize the entire state.
The narrative of "Bad Actors" centers on the disappearance of Downing Street superforecaster Dr. Sophie de Greer. Her absence is exploited by Prime Minister's adviser Anthony Sparrow for a political power grab, aiming to undermine MI5 and its chief, Diana Taverner. Lamb's team uncovers a plot involving a faked Russian GRU death as they investigate.
A host of familiar faces are returning, including Gary Oldman as Jackson Lamb and Jack Lowden as River Cartwright. Kristin Scott Thomas, Jonathan Pryce, Hugo Weaving, and Olivia Cooke are also reprising their roles. Several new actors, including Varada Sethu and Tuppence Middleton, are joining the ensemble. A release date is not yet confirmed, but given past seasons premiered in September, a fall 2027 release is anticipated, with the show streaming on Apple+.
