Sony's Crunchyroll is set to release "That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Tears of the Azure Sea" on May 1, targeting anime enthusiasts as the summer movie season begins. This second film in the franchise is an original side-story that continues the narrative following season 3 of the popular anime series.
The "Slime" franchise, based on a bestselling manga and light novel series with over 56 million copies sold, follows the journey of an ordinary man reborn as a powerful slime named Rimuru Tempest. The first movie, "That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Scarlet Bond," which premiered in January 2023, grossed $14.6 million globally. A special ten-minute preview of "Tears of the Azure Sea" will be shown during screenings of the first film on April 20, 2026.
