Welsh band Skindred has officially secured their first number one album in their 28-year history with their latest release, 'You Got This.' This significant achievement came after they narrowly missed the top spot in 2023 with their eighth studio album, 'Smile.' The Newport band, formed in 1998, is celebrated for its distinctive blend of metal and reggae genres.
Frontman Benji Webbe, 59, described the news as "glorious" and shared his personal celebration plans, which included chips, champagne, and Jamaican patties. He reflected on the band's journey, noting, "It's deserved, but I feel like we have taken the scenic route to get here." The band previously earned the distinction of being the only Welsh group to win a Mobo award in 2024.
Webbe also shared the inspiration behind the album's title, 'You Got This.' The phrase came to him during a spin class and was reinforced by a personal trainer friend. The album's success represents a culmination of years of dedication and hard work for the band.
