Skepta has released a new single, "Innocent Smile," featuring Chase & Status and Suggs. This track signifies the beginning of the rollout for his highly anticipated sixth album, "The Fork and Knife," which is his first release in over seven years. The single, a blend of rap and electronic club music, is accompanied by a visually striking music video directed by Aidan Zamiri.
The "Shutdown" hitmaker has also launched a public art installation titled "DILIGENT" at Piccadilly Circus. This CIRCA commission displays 24 statements from Skepta's lyrics on the iconic Piccadilly Lights, serving as a self-portrait in language. These statements explore themes of identity, environment, and ambition.
"Innocent Smile" is deeply personal for Skepta, reflecting on multiculturalism and the divisions he observes. He collaborated with Suggs and Chase & Status, evolving the song from its initial ska roots to its current breakbeat-infused form. The artwork "DILIGENT" also offers limited edition prints, with each purchase entered into a draw for £24,000.
