Roller Coaster Strands Riders for Hour in Rain
13 May
Summary
- Woman and children stuck atop Joker roller coaster for nearly an hour.
- The ride stopped at its highest point during a rainfall.
- Six Flags stated the stop was due to safety sensors and passed inspection.

A recent visit to Six Flags New England turned into an extended ordeal for one guest who became stranded on the Joker roller coaster for nearly an hour. The incident occurred on Saturday, May 9, as the guest, Samantha Stanley, rode with her friend's two children. The ride vehicle stopped unexpectedly at the very top of the 120-foot lift hill.
As a drizzle turned into heavier rain, Stanley attempted to keep the children calm while they remained suspended. After approximately 45 minutes, an announcement indicated the ride would be unlocked. The vehicle then proceeded down the track. Upon reaching the station, park staff provided dry clothing, food vouchers, and future ride passes.
Six Flags New England stated that the roller coaster's stop was initiated by its safety sensors, which monitor ride operations. Such alerts can necessitate a thorough inspection before a ride resumes. The park confirmed that the Joker ride underwent a complete inspection and was cleared to operate again following the incident.
