In a recent panel at New York Comic Con, acclaimed actress Sigourney Weaver looked back on her legendary performance as Ellen Ripley in the Alien franchise. Weaver, who is now 76 years old, shared that she wasn't initially happy with the delivery of one of her most iconic movie lines.
The line in question occurs in the 1986 film Aliens, when Ripley emerges from an elevator in a giant metal bodysuit to confront a terrifying alien and save a young child. As she approaches the monster, Ripley resolutely says, "Get away from her, you bitch!" However, Weaver revealed that she had pitched her voice up, rather than delivering the line with the bravery it required.
Despite Weaver's self-critique, director James Cameron seemed to love the take, and the line went on to become a fan-favorite. Weaver was even surprised to receive an Oscar nomination for her performance, as genre films rarely receive such recognition.

Interestingly, Weaver also shared that she has had a meeting with Disney/Fox about a new Ripley concept written by her friend, writer and producer Walter Hill. While she's not sure if it will come to fruition, Weaver acknowledged that the idea seems quite extraordinary and true to the character. She had previously been hesitant to reprise the role, but this new pitch has piqued her interest.
