Sia's Secret Survivor Gifts Totaled Over $1 Million
4 Nov
Summary
- Singer Sia gifted over $1 million to 19 contestants.
- Gifts ranged from $14,000 to $100,000 per player.
- The tradition ended after eight years and 14 seasons.
Singer Sia developed an eight-year tradition of giving personal cash gifts to Survivor contestants, distributing over $1 million to 19 players across 14 seasons. This unique practice operated independently of the show's main prize money. Host Jeff Probst helped facilitate these voluntary awards, which were funded entirely by the artist.
Sia's first notable gift occurred in 2016 when she presented $50,000 to contestant Tai Trang for his compassionate actions towards an animal. Her selections were based on individual admiration for a contestant's story or actions during the competition, not their final standing.
Throughout the eight years, individual gifts varied significantly, reportedly ranging from approximately $14,000 up to $100,000. Sia sometimes aimed for $15,000 to avoid tax implications for the recipient, a detail she shared previously. This personal award system concluded in May 2026 with Probst's announcement on Instagram, marking the end of an unusual, generous collaboration.
